Graham Potter is almost always talked about when a new job becomes available in the Premier League, so also in the case of West Ham, a job the English manager really wants, but the Telegraph writes today that another manager is at the top of the wish list of the London club’s board.

West Ham United are keen on Brentford manager Thomas Frank as a potential successor to the under pressure Julen Lopetegui, even though the Dane has a £9 million buyout clause in his contract.

West Ham have only scored 15 points in 14 Premier League games. Tuesday’s defeat at the King Power Stadium to Leicester did not exactly improve the job security of Julen Lopetegui. – The game against Wolverhampton, who are second to last in the Premier League on Monday, should be the last chance for the Spanish manager to turn things around. – It should also be a game of destiny for Wolverhampton manager Gary O’Neil.

West Ham are exploring the possibility of bringing in a replacement on a six-month deal until the end of the current season. Frank has been identified as a candidate, although the Bees’ boss has a hefty buyout clause, and may not be willing to accept a short-term contract in East London.

Frank was appointed Brentford manager in October 2018, and has overseen a remarkable upward trajectory for the West London club, winning promotion to the Premier League in 2021. He has since established the “data-driven club” as a secure Premier League team, and currently has them in eleventh place. Ex-Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp who described Frank’s football as “unbelievable”.

Jürgen Klopp, who is now in charge of Red Bull’s global football ventures, will actually have Thomas Frank on his list in case RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose is fired.

One thing that Thomas Frank is praised for is his ability to deliver results with significantly less financial resources than most clubs in the Premier League.

West Ham had to fork out £9 million just to sign Frank from Brentford, which puts a damper on the likelihood of a short-term deal.
