The January transfer window is now closed, and clubs in Europe’s major leagues will already be planning their transfer business for the 2025 summer window.
January 2025 saw a number of major transitions. Liverpool, along with Arsenal and Real Madrid, kept their gunpowder dry in January and they are all expected to be looking forward to this summer.
Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen and Mohamed Salah could all be on the move this summer, with the former two linked with a number of Premier League clubs, and the latter wanted by Saudi Arabia.
The dates of the window could also be moved around due to the Club World Cup in June and leagues such as the Premier League and Serie A negotiating to potentially close the window before the start of the season.
In the summer of 2024, the Premier League once again flexed its financial muscle, even though top English teams spent far less than they did in 2023.
Julian Alvarez was the most expensive signing in the summer window, with the Argentine international leaving Manchester City to join Atletico Madrid for a €75 million starting fee.
