When the Italian managerial legend took over the reins at Roma for the third time in November, it was crystal clear that the 73-year-old thought he was too old to do anything more than until the summer.

He loves Rome and when Roma needed help, he put down his pipe and slippers and took charge. Sky Sports reports that Patrick Vieira, who is currently coaching Genoa, is among the candidates to take over the Italian giants. – At the same time, quite a few people think Claudio Ranieri is just bluffing that he wants to return as a pensioner and signs an extension.

There is nothing wrong with Patrick Vieira’s CV. The 48-year-old took over as a man for Genoa over two years ago. He has previously managed clubs such as Strasbourg, Crystal Palace, Nice and New York City. – It is still his time as a player that shines the most! Patrick Vieira enjoyed tremendous success at Arsenal, Juventus, Inter Milan and Manchester City, as well as being a key player for France’s national team – winning the 1998 World Cup and the 2000 European Championship.

Rome has some clear reasons for its interest. Coaching experience in several leagues: Vieira has experience from both the Premier League, Ligue 1 and Serie A, which makes him a flexible candidate.

Strong leadership profile: He is known for his authority and winning mentality, something Roma need after a volatile season.

Development of young players: Vieira has shown an ability to develop talent, which could appeal to Roma with their young squad.

Who is he competing with?
According to reports, Roma are also considering other coaches, including: Thiago Motta, Vincenzo Italiano and Antonio Conte who I think they can just forget.

If Vieira leaves Genoa, the club will lose a coach who has stabilised the team in Serie A.
