After Newcastle last summer bought Sandro Tonali from AC Milan for €58.9 million, the mood at St James’ Park suddenly turned bad after it became clear that the 24-year-old midfielder had put money on himself and was banned.
There were only 12 games for Newcastle before he was banned for the rest of the season plus a little. During the autumn, he was allowed to start playing again, but according to Gazzetta dello Sport, he is not happy with life in the British Isles – he simply longs to return home to Italy.
Now Milanlive.it writes that AC Milan want to sign him back. They hope to get a swap deal with Newcastle in place. The Magpies, on the other hand, are said to be interested in Milan players Fikayo Tomori, Samuel Chukwueze and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
If an outright purchase is to be an option, Newcastle must be willing to go on a loss.
Sandro Tonali’s contract with Newcastle expires in the summer of 2028.
