There is not the same bravura over Napoli this season, even though the Italian champions are still in the fight for Serie A. – Especially the midfield is struggling after a number of injuries.
Football Italia pundit Alfredo Pedullà reports today that Napoli have not given up on Kobbie Mainoo and have re-contacted Manchester United after a failed round a few weeks ago.
When Napoli travel to the Stadio Olimpico and face Roma on Sunday, it will be without midfield legend Kevin De Bruyne.

Napoli need new reinforcements in midfield due to an injury crisis.
Napoli considered signing a new midfielder after the injury to star signing Kevin De Bruyne. That need has only increased after further injuries to Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Billy Gilmour, who could undergo surgery early next week.
Napoli’s midfield department is weakening, as manager Antonio Conte has already pointed out, and now it is becoming clear that the club needs to intervene.
Several weeks ago, we reported on Napoli’s strong interest in Manchester United’s Mainoo. This summer, several Serie A clubs were interested in a deal for the 20-year-old midfielder, but United insisted they wanted to keep their academy-developed player.
Things are changing, and the situation may now take a different direction. Napoli requested again a few days ago. There is competition, but Mainoo’s name still appears at the very top of their wish list for the January transfer window.
There is still a long way to go before any agreements are signed.
