Some English media report that victory in the final is a prerequisite for Amorim to keep his job as United coach, others claim that the race is over anyway for the Portuguese and will be sacked after the final. Last year, Ratcliffe and the United management paid a total of £14.5 million to sack the long-term coaching solution Ten Hag and his team. This included sending sporting director Dan Ashworth out the door after 159 days in the job.
The Daily Mail has calculated what it will cost United to sack Amorim after the Europa League final. According to the English media, Amorim signed a 2.5-year contract in November with an annual salary of £6.5 million. This means, roughly speaking, that Manchester United will have to shell out around £13 million if they are to sack Amorim next week.
