For younger generations of Manchester United supporters, celebrations with trophies being bussed through the red part of Manchester are just stories. The last time this happened was back in 2013, when league gold No. 20 was celebrated in the streets. Even if Ruben Amorim brings home the Europa League title, no bus is ready.

Because when Manchester United with Mourinho at the helm beat Ajax in the Europa League final in 2017, there was no bus parade. According to the Times, there will also be no parade through the streets of Manchester with a possible Amorim title.

For United, a day of celebration, but with all the trophies of Alex Ferguson’s United, it takes more than a Europa League title to celebrate with the city.

So how will Amorim and his players celebrate a title in this horribly weak Premier League season? The English media reports the plan is ready. Then the club arranges a barbecue for the players and their families at Carrington, the day after the final.

In other words, a sausage party, the day after playing until close to midnight in Bilbao.

It is part of the story that the Sunday after the final, the Premier League season ends with a home game against Aston Villa. Then straight to two friendlies in Asia the week after the end of the season.

Manchester United will do everything to finish the season – and put a line under it. Hopefully with a Europa League title and Champions League ticket.

And a sausage party.
