On Tuesday, an Italian newspaper reported that a deal had been made with Jürgen Klopp on Sunday. The German is said to have agreed with Roma to take the coaching job. A few hours later, Klopp’s agent went out and called it pure humbug. Now there are reports of another great candidate for the Roma job, this one more realistic. The Serie A club has caught on to the noise between club owner and Forest manager Nuno Santo.

Santo was the alpha male who led Wolvherhampton back to the Premier League after a six-year absence. In the world’s toughest league, the Portuguese continued his success until after the 2020/21 season, when coach and club agreed to part ways. Tottenham jumped at the opportunity, but it turned out that Santo was only an intermediate solution for the London club, they were waiting for Antonio Conte.

Santo retired to Saudi Arabian football, picked up the league title in the first season, the club’s first in 14 years, and then was fired in the second season.

Back in the Premier League as Nottingham Forest manager, Santo has really shown off his sparkling attacking football. Although the Champions League ticket may be lost, Forest have been right up there for much of the season. Sensational for the club that last season fought for survival in the Premier League.
