Andreas Schelderup is the 21-year-old who has made even Jose Mourinho turn around. Halfway through the season, the Benfica coach became cranky when he was asked about the lack of playing time for the Norwegian winger. “Schelderup is Schelderup”, Mourinho said in a somewhat philosophical and somewhat incomprehensible way. Then the confidence has come, as have the performances and goals from the 21-year-old. It is entertaining to see how the English media now refer to the Norwegian international.
Barcelona is following Schelderup closely, reports from Spain. Caughtoffside mentions the link to both Manchester United and Liverpool.

We’ll let the English site do the analysis:
“Manchester United are reportedly preparing to make a bid of around €60 million for the transfer of Benfica sensation Andreas Schjelderup. The talented 21-year-old is quickly establishing himself as one of the most exciting talents in Europe, which has led to interest from clubs such as Man Utd and Barcelona.”
“That’s according to a report from Fichajes, who adds that the Red Devils hope to get in a strong position to sign Schjelderup by moving forward with a €60 million offer to Benfica.”
“United could use a little more spark in their attack this summer, as we have yet to see the best out of Matheus Cunha since his move to Old Trafford, while even Bryan Mbeumo’s form has faded a bit as the season has gone on. It has seemed like this for a while, that we can see Schjelderup move to the Premier League, as he has attracted interest from big clubs in England for a few years now.”
“O Jogo has previously linked the Norwegian international as a target for Liverpool.”
“Schjelderup is now more experienced and has proven himself at the highest level, so it could be the right time for Manchester United to try and bring him in to become a key player. With the ability to play a variety of attacking roles, and with natural skill, flair and intelligence in his game, it’s easy to imagine Schjelderup being a big hit with United fans if he can continue to fulfil his immense potential.”
