There is nothing to suggest that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will stop with the Championship for Wrexham. – They know that the road to the Premier League costs a lot.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have pulled Wrexham out of the ditch and financial boredom and from the Fifth Division to the Second Division in record time. Wrexham are the first team to secure three consecutive promotions from the National League to the Championship, and now find themselves at an exciting turning point in their upward development.

Can there be four promotions in a row?
The Hollywood duo have no intention of funding the club all the way to the Premier League alone, but new investment from the Allyn family and the club’s commercial success will place them on a solid platform as they prepare for what Reynolds and McElhenney undoubtedly see as the next big leap.
Manager Phil Parkinson has secured the job with subsequent promotion, but the squad – ambitiously built for the top of League One – will need reinforcements this summer.
The Red Dragons have the financial muscle to meet this requirement, and more.
“Birmingham [City] and Wrexham are likely to aim for the same type of players as Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton – and some of the smaller Premier League clubs this summer,” reports Rob Dorsett for Sky Sports.
**”In League One, clubs have only been allowed to spend 60 percent of total turnover on players, but this will change for the next season to limit how much rich owners can pump in.
In the Championship, the rules state that no more than £39 million can be lost over a three-year period. For Wrexham and Birmingham, this gives a lot of leeway to invest in the squad, as a new three-year term starts now.” **
Dorsett reports that Wrexham “now [have] an estimated value of over £100 million” and has increased in value by over 50x since 2021.
“Wrexham’s estimated turnover this season has been over £27 million. This is a huge sum for a League One club – four or five times the turnover of the league’s smallest clubs.”
Just like Birmingham, Wrexham are expected to throw their weight around in the summer transfer window and fish in the same waters as some clubs in the division above.

Parkinson laid out Wrexham’s policy of “no superstars and no egos” and indicated that free transfers will form a significant part of their plans.
This could put players such as 38-year-old Premier League striker Jamie Vardy in the picture, along with Welsh international Ben Davies (out of contract at Tottenham Hotspur in June) and Champions League and Premier League winner Adam Lallana.
Goalkeeper Danny Ward, out of favour and out of contract at relegated Leicester City, was born and raised in Wrexham and could be a dark horse as competition to Arthur Okonkwo while Parkinson seeks to add both depth and strength.
