According to reports, Real Madrid are determined to sign Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson in the summer of 2026, but the capital giants will face intense competition for his signature.

The 21-year-old moved to Frankfurt from Malmö in 2023, and he has represented his current team in 86 games in all competitions, scoring eight goals and registering five assists in the process.

Last season, Larsson scored six goals and registered two assists in 47 appearances in all competitions, including three goals in 11 appearances in the Europa League.

Arsenal and Manchester City are among the clubs credited with interest in the Swedish international, but according to Fichajes, Real Madrid are determined to win the battle for his signature.

The report claims that Real Madrid’s chief scout Juni Calafat has been tracking Larson’s progress, and a move for the midfielder in next summer’s transfer window is now being planned.

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso is also believed to be a big supporter, having followed him closely in Germany, and the Spaniard is suggested to feel that Larsson would bring balance and energy to the midfield.

Larsson is valued at €40 million (£35 million) by Transfermarkt, but it is likely that Real Madrid will have to pay much more than that to sign him next year, especially if the midfielder has another strong season.

The Swede has already played one game for Frankfurt during the 2025-26 season, with an assist in the team’s 5-0 win over FV Engers 07 in their first round of the German Cup on August 17.

It is understood that teams have considered Larsson this summer as a potential signing, but it is much more likely that he will move at the end of the current season.

Luka Modric’s exit has left Real Madrid short in central midfield, especially with Jude Bellingham currently on the sidelines and recovering from shoulder surgery.

Eduardo Camavinga also had to sit out the game against Osasuna on Tuesday due to injury, while Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni joined in central midfield with Arda Guler.

Dani Ceballos is another option in that position, but the Spaniard is being linked with an exit before the transfer window closes, and there is no doubt that it is currently an area of concern at Los Blancos.
