Last season, Real Madrid won it all, with Kylian Mbappé in the squad – no titles (before the Club World Cup). Jude Bellingham has delivered far below expectations he created last season, although 14 goals and 14 assists for an attacking midfielder would have been acceptable for others. Now awaits surgery and a new coach. Xabi Alonso has decided to return to his recipe for success.

When Jude Bellingham joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2023, Carlo Ancelotti joked that the young English player’s passport must be forged. His age did not match what he delivered on the turf. That season, Bellingham had an almost free role with Ancelotti and could throw himself into offensive runs, which were covered by players behind him. This resulted in 23 goals and 13 assists in his debut season and Real Madrid titles.

Now Ancelotti is on his way out, Xabi Alonso is getting ready to make the changes needed for Real Madrid to go all the way to the biggest titles again. Diario AS reports Alonso has a clear plan for Bellingham.

At Bayer Leverkusen, Alonso has sworn to a 3-4-3, at Real Madrid the Spaniard will continue Ancelotti’s 4-4-2 system. Initially, Alonso was supposed to use Bellingham in a deeper role, but the Spanish media claims the plan has changed. Bellingham will return to his more attacking role on the left side of midfield to really take advantage of the 21-year-old’s world-class strengths.
