The former Liverpool midfielder is still linked with the coaching job at Anfield with the uncertain secure future of Arne Slot, but signals suggest that Liverpool management will pass on Slot’s confidence – and thus say no to their former first choice as Klopp replacement, Xabi Alonso.
Alonso is eager to return to the dugout and, according to Caughtoffside’s sources , has already held preliminary talks with Manchester City, Benfica, Porto – and Manchester United.
The mere fact that Alonso is being reported in talks about a potential job at Manchester United suggests that the parties have no problems with his background as a Liverpool star.
The question is whether this is an edible solution for Man Utd supporters.
