Xavi Simons has reportedly made a decision on his future in this summer’s transfer window, amid strong interest from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, as well as Bayern Munich.
Strong season – ready for a new challenge
Simons has had an impressive season and is starting to realise his potential as a former prodigy. – The Dutch 22-year-old attacking midfielder has spent a little longer than ‘expected’, but now he’s there. Simons was signed by RB Leipzig in January for a transfer fee of €50 million, and already now the Bundesliga club, which disappointingly failed to qualify for the Champions League, can at least make a good profit from player sales.

RB Leipzig’s lack of qualification for next year’s Champions League, and the opportunity to take the next step in his career by joining a bigger club, is a transfer at the door.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Simons has decided to leave Leipzig this summer, and the club has been informed of the plans. The 22-year-old Netherlands international can either stay in Germany by signing for Bayern Munich, or move to the fifth country in his young career.
Premier League clubs on the pitch
Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been linked with Simons, who first made a name for himself as a big talent in Barcelona’s La Masia, before being signed by Paris Saint-Germain and later breaking through at the top level with PSV Eindhoven.
“I’m still a young player, I have a lot of dreams – and the club knows it,” Simons said of his future last month. He hinted that a final decision on which club he will join will come after two World Cup qualifiers in early June.
High price for Leipzig’s star
Previous reports have suggested that Leipzig, who also expect offers for striker Benjamin Šeško this summer, could ask for up to €72 million to sell Simons.
Now it remains to be seen where the young Dutchman ends up – and whether one of England’s big clubs is willing to match Leipzig’s demands.
