Arsenal fans had a love/hate relationship with Xhaka at the Emirates, but with 297 appearances in the Gunners shirt, the Swiss international helped build Arsenal with Arteta at the helm. Then came the transfer to Bayer Leverkusen in 2023, with Xabi Alonso it became a real football adventure for the defensive midfielder. Now that Alonso is done, it’s time to move again for the 32-year-old.

Xhaka was one of Alonso’s key players, the Swiss knows he can pat himself on the back as Bayer Leverkusen look back on the last two seasons with the historic Bundesliga title and second place this season. During his two years at the club, Xhaka has missed just two league games.

But with Tah, Frimpong, Wirtz and Alonso gone and Erik ten Hag at the helm, it’s also time for Xhaka to move. The contract runs until 2028, but this week the Swiss has been heavily linked to AC Milan. According to Calciomercato, Xhaka and Milan have already agreed on the personal terms of contract until 2028 with a solid €4 million in annual salary.

Xhaka is being bought out of Leverkusen for €10 million, it is reported.

AC Milan had a miserable season with 8th place in Serie A and completely out of action in Europe. Now Xhaka will help take back control of the defensive midfield for the big club. This could be a new football adventure for Xhaka.
