Earlier today, the news broke that Ruud van Nistelrooy has applied for the vacant Coventry City, a job that Chelsea legend Frank Lampard also wants.

Ruud van Nistelrooy recently left Manchester United – after Ruben Amorim was appointed as the new manager. The Dutchman arrived in the summer as an assistant to Erik ten Hag and then took over as interim coach after his compatriot was fired.

Sky reports today that Burnley, who were relegated to the Championship under Vincent Kompany’s management last season, are interested in bringing in van Nistelrooy. According to the newspaper, Burnley were already interested in the summer, but then they signed Scott Parker instead.

Should things not go well under Parker’s leadership going forward, van Nistelrooy is once again reported to be an option for the club.

The English media do not disagree about the interest, but about when this can happen. The Daily News believes that Burnley are unlikely to get rid of the Englishman at the moment, as the club are currently in fourth place in the Championship, but the goal is a return to the Premier League and they need to deliver better. Sky believes Parker, if they get rid of Nistelrooy, is a loss or two away from being fired.

Van Nistelrooy has previously been in charge of PSV in the Netherlands, in addition to being an assistant on the Dutch national team.
