There were probably several Bodø/Glimt supporters who believed and wanted Philip Zinckernagel to move on. In his second round with the yellow Glimt shirt, the Dane had shown that he still lifts his attacking game an extra notch. It turned out that Bodø/Glimt have done fine without the winger, so you just have to get carried away by Zinckernagel’s success in MLS.
The 30-year-old was brought in January to the Chicago Fire with Gregg Berhalter as coach. It didn’t take long before the Dane was used as the club’s “posterboy” on Instagram. The Bodø/Glimt star showed a mentality, a willingness to work and performances that quickly made the Dane a supporter favorite.

In April, the Dane scored his 3rd MLS goal with a gem of a free kick. On Sunday night, Zinckernagel scored another goal to the great and noisy joy of the home supporters.
And there was more Zinckernagel.
On Wednesday night, it was ready for a cup game against New England. The Chicago Fire had the lead with a 0-2 lead, Zinckernagel took a fantastic solo run with scoring and punctuated the game with his goal, ten minutes before the end (ended 1-3).
