Aalesund secured their first Eliteserien win in 107 days when Start was beaten 2-0 at home – a long-awaited triumph for Kjetil Rekdal and his crew.
The Sunnmøringers’ previous league win came on May 20, when they beat Brann 2–1. Since then, there have been nine games without a win – but in the tenth attempt, the cheers finally came back at Color Line Stadium.

Two goals in three minutes decided the game
Both teams hit the crossbar early in the game, but it was Aalesund who first got the payoff. After 21 minutes, Elias Hagen was in the right place at the right time when he poked in the rebound from close range after a shot from teammate Uba Charles.
Just three minutes later, captain Mathias Christensen doubled the lead with a precise shot from outside the 16-meter box – and thus the game’s goals were done.
Important victory in the bottom battle
The win gives Aalesund three points – only the third time this season they have taken all three from a game. The team is now in 14th place with 18 points from 19 games, a position that provides relegation qualification.
For Start, it was another tough night. The table jumbo is left with only 13 points and has time against them in the fight to save their place.
