Alexander Sørloth is entering the final days of his rehabilitation process with Atlético Madrid after being away from the pitch for two months due to a muscle injury in the soleus muscle.
According to Diario AS, the Norwegian striker – who has trained individually at the facilities in Majadahonda even on the team’s rest days – will return to the group dynamic ahead of the league match against Deportivo Alavés on October 10.
Mourinho will not repeat Ancelotti’s biggest mistake at Real Madrid
The Norwegian’s return gives Diego Simeone full access to his attacking pieces. In the first weeks of the season, his absence from the attacking zone forced the Argentine coach to try different variations – but Julián Álvarez’s resurrection, Jonathan David’s good start and Sørloth’s return give the coaching staff a far wider range of options.
The player’s comeback comes at a crucial time in the season, historically marked by being the most effective scorer of his career. In his previous spells with Villarreal and at the red-and-white club itself, the attacker scored the vast majority of his goals in the middle and final stages of the championship.
