The Spaniard was presented to the Spanish second division club on Friday, ready for a one-year loan from Como – and his performance has already gone viral for all the wrong reasons.
Alvaro Morata, who has a contract with the Serie A club until 2029, is said to have been wanted by both La Liga clubs and Mexican teams this summer. But it ended with Leganes, who were relegated from the top division in the 2024/25 season and are now chasing promotion for the second year in a row.

For the veteran, this will be his fourth club in three seasons – Galatasaray, AC Milan, Como and now Leganes. After a loan spell at Como from Milan last year, where he only managed one goal in 30 games, the transfer was made permanent in the summer – before he was immediately sent on a new loan.
Now his presentation show has taken off online. And not exactly for reasons he will remember fondly.
Morata’s embarrassing behavior has exploded on social media
When Morata was to entertain the Leganes supporters with a little trick show, it went anything but according to plan.
First, he started a circumnavigation – and did it well. But then it was time to repeat. The ball ran off his calf, and Morata had to run after it. Another attempt: two successful touches, before the ball got stuck under his heel and dumped to the ground.
The smile was gone when he gathered himself for new tricks, but even there the ball would not be able to cope. It flew away, and Morata could only defiantly stumble away and get it.
It was all embarrassing, fluffy and extraordinarily entertaining for everyone but himself. And of course: the video is now everywhere.

Despite the comical presentation, Morata is said to be delighted to be in Leganes. All summer, he has been looking for a way back to his hometown of Madrid – and now he has got what he wanted.
According to ESPN, it was precisely the opportunity to return home that enticed. The fact that he has been involved in transfers worth a total of €212 million throughout his career speaks volumes about the status he has had in European football.
In fact, according to Transfermarkt, Morata is the Spanish player who has generated the most money in the transfer market of all time. Clubs such as Real Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea and Atlético Madrid are on the track record.
But in Leganes this Friday night? There he was just a man, a ball – and a performance he will never forget. And neither will the rest of the football world.
