The former Manchester United striker has been without a club since leaving Monterrey in June.
Anthony Martial has been offered a return to the Premier League – after the summer window closed.
Newcastle opted for creative and sensational barter
The 30-year-old is a free agent after he left Mexican Monterrey in June.
He originally signed a two-year contract in 2025 to play for the Liga MX club, but the deal was terminated by mutual agreement. Martial scored one goal in 20 games in Mexico.
Since he is clubless, he can be signed and registered outside of the transfer window – and is therefore playable for any club that has a vacant place in the squad.
Now he has been promised a surprising return to English football – two years after he was let go by Manchester United.
Offered to Everton after nightmare end of window
According to TEAMtalk, the Frenchman has been offered Everton – after the Toffees had a nightmarish end to the transfer window.
The club agreed a deal for Monaco striker Folarin Balogun, but the American changed his mind at the last minute – despite being at the training facility.
Everton’s decision to sell Beto to Fiorentina means that Thierno Barry is the club’s only pure striker in the squad until January.
Everton currently have just 21 players in their senior squad – including two reserve goalkeepers behind Jordan Pickford, and the injured Christian Norgaard.
Seven clubs contacted
Martial is reported to be “open” to a return to the Premier League – and intermediaries have contacted seven clubs to make them aware of his availability.
According to the report, Everton, Leeds, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Newcastle, Sunderland and Tottenham have been contacted.
It is currently unclear if any of the clubs are interested in signing Martial, who has been a free agent for three months.
He played his last competitive match in March, when he started in the second leg against Cruz Azul in the CONCACAF Champions League quarter-finals.
Could face United for the first time
Should Martial return to the Premier League, he faces the prospect of facing United for the first time since leaving Old Trafford.
After being released by United, he moved to Greek side AEK Athens – where he scored nine goals in 24 appearances in all competitions, before moving to Mexico and Monterrey.
He turns 31 in December and hopes to secure a new club now that the transfer window has closed.
