Conte’s statement
As for his own future, Conte has issued a lengthy statement in which he confirms that he is not in negotiations at an advanced stage with any club. He has also refuted reports of his financial demands and the demand for full control.
“My name has been linked to a number of clubs, but there are currently no negotiations at an advanced stage. After a fantastic and successful period as manager of Napoli, I will take the time to consider how and when to return to management. It will be a carefully considered decision, one I will make when I believe the conditions are right.
I have read reports about financial demands and requests for full control that I have allegedly already given to the clubs mentioned, as well as reservations about what has been described as my “strong personality”. These reports are baseless, as there is currently no concrete basis for such assessments.
Should a concrete opportunity arise, it will be the time to hold discussions with the club in question and jointly assess the terms of a potential deal – taking into account the needs of both parties and the qualities and approach that define my work as a manager. Until then, all assumptions about my requirements and my professional future remain speculation and cannot be treated as facts.”
It seems that Conte is ready to enter into negotiations with clubs if the opportunity arises – but as things stand, nothing has progressed.
Lineker and Shearer agree on Carrick’s future
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is under pressure after losing to Como in the Champions League this week.
Bringing in a manager like Conte would definitely be a big change for Manchester United. The Italian manager is known for being a fiery character – which is in stark contrast to Carrick.
On the outside, Carrick seems like a calm and measured manager, and replacing him with Conte would be a significant change.
There is no doubt that this is exactly what United need, but there is also a chance that it could upset some in the squad and create division.
In any case, things are not going well for United right now, and changes are needed – whether it is the manager, the players or the board above.
