“You make a lot of assumptions. First you say he wants to play that way, and then you say it’s not my style.” This was the first part of the answer Arne Slot gave to one of the first questions at Friday’s press conference before the last Premier League game against Brentford. This he, of course, was Mo Salah. After last weekend’s game, Liverpool’s superstar again came out with open criticism of Slot. This time of the football played under the Dutchman.

Slot knows he can’t dodge the question of Salah’s criticism

“I think Mohamed Salah was very happy with the way we played last season, because it led to us winning the league. He and the team – and I was a part of it – took the championship back after five years, and we will fight for the title again next season and continue to develop the team. That’s how I look at it,” Slot continues, according to Sky Sports.

“We have to find the right balance where we can still be competitive, but at the same time definitely play the type and style of football that the supporters want to see and that I want my team to play,” says Slot.

Then we’ll see. Liverpool supporters are anything but reassured after the season’s big slump as reigning Premier League champions.
