Arsenal have quietly announced their first deal in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners are on the verge of their first Premier League title since 2004, after Mikel Arteta’s side beat West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Manchester City are five points behind Arsenal with one game to go. It will be played against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

Arteta is aiming for what will be a legendary double victory. Arsenal are closing in on the league gold and at the same time preparing for the Champions League final against European champions Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the month.

Football never stands still, and no matter what happens for the rest of the 2025/26 season, Arsenal will be looking to strengthen their squad in the transfer window.

However, the club’s first deal of the summer has already been completed and it is a sale that could free up money for the defensive effort as Arteta begins to plan at least one title defence.

Last week, Porto announced that they had exercised the option to make the loan of Polish defender Jakub Kiwior a permanent transfer.

The 26-year-old Kiwior has signed a contract that runs until the summer of 2030.

“FC Porto has exercised the purchase option stipulated in the loan agreement with Arsenal FC and will now permanently own the sporting registration rights and 100 percent of the financial rights of Jakub Kiwior for a fixed sum of €17 million, plus a maximum variable remuneration of €5 million depending on the achievement of certain objectives”, announced the Portuguese champions. It was also indicated that the Gunners have agreed to a small, fixed resale commission.

Kiwior completes transfer from Arsenal to Porto

Arsenal have now confirmed that the deal has been completed. The news of Kiwior’s departure was buried in the regular “loan update” on Arsenal.com this week.

The Polish international signed for Arsenal from Spezia three years ago. He had then distinguished himself as a highly-rated defender in Zilina in Slovakia’s top division.

Kiwior joined Porto on loan last summer and has been a regular starter under head coach Francesco Farioli. He has a total of 25 league games in the season where the “Drakene” secured their first Primeira Liga title since 2021/22.

“Everyone at Arsenal wishes Jakub the best of luck for the upcoming season in Porto,” Arsenal.com wrote in September. The north London club also congratulated the defender as Porto confirmed the title victory.

He leaves Arsenal with 44 Premier League games on his CV.
