Viktor Gyökeres brought something new to Arsenal, something the Gunners have been missing at the top. 14 Premier League goals were not outstanding, but an important contributor to Martin Ødegaard finally lifting the Premier League trophy for Arsenal. Now the Gunners will take the next step, this could mean that the Swedish international striker is “sacrificed”.
According to The Independent , the Gunners are hoping and aiming to sign Julian Alvarez before preseason. Alvarez should not be dismissive of Arsenal, although he prefers a transfer to either Real Madrid or Barcelona. This means that the Arsenal management still believes they can land a deal with the Argentine, after the Atletico Madrid management has given crystal clear signals that a sale to Barcelona and Real Madrid is out of the question.

According to English talkSport, Arsenal are looking at the possibility of adding Gyökeres in a swap plus cash for Alvarez to “soften” Atletico management.
TalkSports Andy Brassell draws the analysis:
“Arsenal have had a long-term interest, longer than Barcelona, so it makes perfect sense to see them back in the picture.”
“Arsenal went out and bought their number 9 and I think Viktor Gyokeres is sometimes seen in the wrong way, as the guy who is going to take them to the next level. He did it in a way, by offering them something different, not by being the best striker in the world or anything like that. Now it’s more Alvarez’s territory – he’s someone who can really lead a team.”
“He has heart and soul; He gives everything in every game. He runs so much… can create on his own, score from the penalty box, from distance, can set up others. That’s really why he’s a player so many managers want,” says Brassel.
