Aston Villa are willing to sell young winger Tommi O’Reilly, following growing interest from Oxford United, Portsmouth and Huddersfield Town.

The 22-year-old has been on loan at Crewe Alexandra in League Two this season. There he has played 49 games and really caused a stir – with a whopping 21 goals involved, including seven of his own netting. “Still, manager Unai Emery has no interest in bringing him back to Aston Villa just yet.

The technical O’Reilly was actually compared to Manchester City’s Phil Foden in style of play when he broke through in Villa’s academy. He was also part of the team that won the FA Youth Cup in 2021.

Impressed Gerrard – now he can be sold

He impressed then-manager Steven Gerrard so much that he was brought up to the first team. Since then, however, he has been on loan at Spain, MK Dons, Shrewsbury and Crewe to get more regular playing time at senior level.

This year, he has really shown his strength by starting 45 of Crewe’s league games, and in March he was nominated for League Two Player of the Month. – And before the weekend, the crowning glory came.

Price tag: Around a million pounds

Villa are reportedly open to selling the 22-year-old for around one million pounds. The club are looking to raise money that can be used to bolster Unai Emery’s squad, and they will consider bids from both Huddersfield and Oxford as interest grows.

O’Reilly is also being watched by the Republic of Ireland after his impressive season.
