Ansu Fati has been on loan at Monaco for one year. The deal, which formally expires on Tuesday, included a call option. Now Monaco have chosen to take advantage of it, and the 23-year-old is thus permanently ready for the French club – with a contract until 2030.

According to French media, the call option is worth eleven million euros – around 120 million Norwegian kroner. In addition, Barcelona will be left with a resale clause of 20 percent.

Fati scored 12 goals in 30 games in the Monaco shirt last season – and has clearly made enough of an impression that the club is now choosing to make the transfer permanent. A fresh start for a player who was once seen as Barcelona’s future crown prince.
