Every single transfer window will be a penny for Chelsea. Since Todd Boehly took over the club in May 2022, the American billionaire has spent over €1.5 billion on new players – an amount unparalleled in European football.
Now they are on their way to smashing their own record again. According to English media, Chelsea are very close to a deal with Aston Villa for Morgan Rogers – at a price tag of a staggering €137 million. That will make him the club’s most expensive purchase ever.

While that deal is being finalized, it is worth recalling which giant acquisitions Boehly has already completed.
Chelsea’s five most expensive signings under Todd Boehly
1. Morgan Rogers – €137 million (pending confirmation)
All indications are that Morgan Rogers will soon top the list. The 23-year-old English striker has been one of the biggest stars at Aston Villa this season, and can be used everywhere in the attack. He is supposedly set to sign a contract that runs until 2033, while the clubs work out the final details of a deal that will set a new record at Stamford Bridge.
2. Enzo Fernández – €121 million
Chelsea signed the Argentine from Benfica just after he shone for Argentina during the World Cup in Qatar. They triggered the €121 million purchase clause, and the midfielder has since become one of the mainstays of Boehly’s new project. A gigantic investment – and so far the most expensive in the club’s history.
3. Moisés Caicedo – €116 million
In the summer of 2023, a drama unfolded between Chelsea and Liverpool over the Ecuadorian midfielder. In the end, Chelsea drew the longest straw and paid Brighton 116 million euros. After a somewhat troubled start, Caicedo has emerged as a key player in the middle of the pitch.
4. Wesley Fofana – €80 million
The Armed Forces have also received large sums of money. The French centre-back joined from Leicester City for around €80 million, making him one of the most expensive defensive acquisitions of all time. Unfortunately, injuries have prevented him from playing regularly, but when he is injury-free, he shows exactly the qualities that made Chelsea want to spend so much money on him.
5. Roméo Lavia – €62 million
The Belgian arrived from Southampton despite very limited experience at the top level. Injuries have also plagued Lavia to a large extent, but the Chelsea management still believes that he can be a future star at Stamford Bridge.
A project without financial limits
Todd Boehly’s policies have completely changed the European transfer market. The American has without hesitation made Chelsea the big player in every transfer window, with young players, long contracts and insane sums.
Morgan Rogers is in this respect yet another proof that Chelsea have no intention of slowing down. With a price tag of €137 million, he will beat both Enzo Fernández and Moisés Caicedo – and cement Chelsea’s position as one of the world’s most cashed clubs.
One thing is certain: under Todd Boehly, Chelsea are trading to win – and the price is almost unbelievable.
