The Chelsea management made sure that it was out of the question for Enzo Maresca to continue. Eighteen months in the coaching job at Stamford Bridge, six months before an “exit was agreed” in January, the Italian had led the club to Conference League title and as Club World Cup champion with a prize of £85 million. 106 days with Liam Rosenior as the new manager, the Chelsea management realized they had gotten rid of the coach who was actually the right man for the club. Now there is talk of going back and continuing Maresca’s work.

After the bout with Rosenior, the London outfit has chosen to continue with a coach who shares some of the principles that former manager Enzo Maresca stood for, reports The Independent.

According to the English newspaper, this has put Xavi on the list of candidates. The Spanish legend was done with Barcelona in 2024 after a chaotic finish with “I can’t take it anymore”, to be persuaded to continue, only to be sacked by club president Laporta a few weeks later.

Xavi has expressed that he is excited to return as coach, where the Premier League is on his wish list.
