Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany is a man who has risen through the ranks to the top at Manchester City as a player. As a coach, the Belgian has also climbed. First at Anderlecht, then Burnley, before one of the world’s biggest clubs pointed to the new coach as a long-term solution in Munich. Kompany has delivered two Bundesliga titles, now he faces the first obstacle in his way in the Champions League: Bodø/Glimt.

The Belgian’s background means that he never underestimates an opponent. Before Wednesday’s game, there is a Bayern Munich coach full of respect for Glimt and Kjetil Knutsen’s football.

“Bodø Glimt is a fantastic story for football. The more you analyse it, the more you discover that it all makes sense. According to their financial muscle, they shouldn’t be able to play with the big teams at all, and they still do. That’s the best compliment you can give them,” Kompany said.
