There it came. The almost inevitable. West Ham lost 1-3 at home to West Bromwich. When this comes on top of relegation after last season, and after thirteen league games not exactly a direct-return-to-Premier League atmosphere at West Ham, Nuno Santo had to go.
On Tuesday morning, the London club announced that Nuno Espirito Santo has been fired as head coach. Assistants Rui Pedro Silva and Rui Barbosa are also out.

“West Ham United would like to thank Nuno, Rui and Rui for their hard work and dedication during their time at the club and wish them all the best for the future,” West Ham management said.
West Ham were relegated from the Premier League last season and are currently eighth in the Championship. Santo has been the manager of West Ham since September 2025 with 53 games at the helm.
Edvin Austebø has had a solid start as a West Ham player after the transfer in the autumn, with 3 goals and 2 assists in 11 games, but must now realize that Santo is history.
West Ham report they are working to find a replacement. Meanwhile, Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville will take over temporarily.
