Arne Slot was sacked at Liverpool just hours before the Champions League final. Now Mohamed Salah could be on the verge of reversing his decision to leave the club. At the same time, Arne Slot is already a candidate for the AC Milan job, while Andoni Iraola turned down AC Milan – and is aiming for Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah could stay – after Arne Slot’s exit

We at Sporten.com have always believed that an important reason why Mohamed Salah chose to leave Liverpool was the miserable chemistry with manager Arne Slot.

When it became clear earlier this year that the owners and management of Liverpool would stand behind their Dutch manager, it was essentially the same as signing the exit papers for Salah. Then it was decided.

But then everything turned around. Liverpool management concluded this weekend that the club “needs a change” – just one year after Arne Slot led the club to its first Premier League title since Klopp’s 2019/20 season. It was the 20th league title in club history.

Before his last game at Anfield, Salah fired off strong criticism of the development of Liverpool’s game – aimed directly at Arne Slot.

“Will always have a special place”

The Liverpool management writes on the club’s website:

“We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to Arne, who will always have a special place in this football club’s history as the manager who secured Liverpool’s 20th championship.

The love for the club

We already know that Mohamed Salah’s family is thriving at Liverpool, and that the love for the club, fans and teammates is enormous in the Egyptian superstar.

We also know that no new contract has been signed with a new club, although there are signals that there is an offer on the table from Saudi Arabia club Al-Hilal – with an annual salary of 120 million euros.

“No wonder: Liverpool loves Mohamed Salah, and Mohamed Salah loves Liverpool.”

The Athletic agrees with Sporten.com that Arne Slot’s departure could make Mohamed Salah reconsider his future – despite the fact that he has already announced that he is leaving Liverpool this summer.

“A better manager is coming”

The hope for many fans is a return for Jürgen Klopp, but what is much more likely is an agreement between Liverpool and Bournemouth’s successful manager Andoni Iraola – who only has a few days left in the job.

Now we know why he turned down AC Milan yesterday. Andoni Iraola turns down AC Milan – and is aiming for the Premier League.

Arne Slot on his way to Milan?

According to the Daily Mail, Arne Slot has become a candidate for the AC Milan job just hours after he was sacked by Liverpool. Meanwhile, Milan have also held talks with Oliver Glasner about the leading managerial role, and the club is eyeing former Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick as a potential option for the sporting director position.
