Seamus Coleman played for David Moyes in the Scot’s first round as Everton manager, where the full-back was brought in from Silgo Rovers in 2009. When Moyes left Goodison Park in 2013 for the unsuccessful stay at Manchester United, the Irishman Coleman continued on his Everton journey. Moyes went to Real Sociedad, Sunderland and twice West Ham. In January 2025, Moyes returned to Everton. Then he found Seamus Coleman still with the Toffees. An impressive 17 years in the Everton shirt for the Irishman, but now even the 37-year-old is saying goodbye.

“I want to thank the supporters for their incredible support. You have helped me in more ways than I could have ever imagined. I’ve always tried to do my best to put Everton first, and you mean everything to me. I live in the city – I see it every day – and because I love the football club, I’ve gone to the dressing room to explain to the guys what Everton means to people,” the veteran begins to the club’s website.

Now Coleman has to think about what happens next.

“The club has been unbelievable to me. They have offered me an opportunity to stay at the club. The coach and staff have been fantastic and I think after such a future decision I will take a long holiday and look back on an incredible time as a player at Everton,” Coleman said.

On Sunday, Everton’s last home game of the season awaits, Coleman with his 433 competitive games for the club gets another dignified farewell as a full Everton firewood.
