It was not a good Champions League qualifying night for Dutch NEC at Aspmyra on Tuesday, but the Netherlands’ third best club had no chance against Bodø/Glimt. That’s how easy it is to sum up for Glimt’s opponent in the second leg, the summary of Glimt’s new feat is AMAZING!
The yellow horde from Bodø traveled to the Netherlands last week and wrapped up a 1-3 victory in the first qualifying match. Although Dutch media commented it now seemed impossible to take a Champions League ticket, the one, late goal gave the home side a theoretical “lifeline”.

After the game, we wrote Bodø/Glimt will never make the same mistake as against Sporting last season, by going out to secure a lead from the first leg. Kjetil Knutsen’s men did not do this either. Bjørkan and Auklend ensured a 2-0 lead on the way into the locker room at halftime, NEC also failed with their ten men on the field to threaten the Glimt defense in the second half.
It ended with 6-1 to Bodø/Glimt after two games, the NEC supporters already realized at home that the Norwegian club plays at a much higher level.

It also says a lot about the mentality at Aspmyra, when Fredrik Bjørkan in an interview after the match points to Barcelona and Real Madrid as dream opponents in the group stage. Hansi Flick or Jose Mourinho should be ready.
