Gonzalo Higuaín’s brother, Federico, has been fired. The coach is accused of sexism towards a referee while coaching Columbus Crew’s reserve team.
Federico Higuaín had a solid playing career in North and South America, but it was overshadowed by his brother Gonzalo Higuaín’s escapades.
After retiring, Federico Higuaín became coach of Inter Miami’s reserve team, and then of Columbus Crew’s reserve team.

From his last job, Higuaín has now been fired. According to the BBC, the reason is that the coach behaved sexist towards a female referee.
During an MLS Next Pro match, Higuaín allegedly refused to let go of the referee’s hand before telling her:
“Don’t forget that this is a man’s sport.
According to The Athletic, Higuaín reportedly refused to take responsibility for his actions, nor did he want to apologize publicly. Which led to the Columbus Crew releasing the coach from the position.
The Columbus Crew said in a statement that they had fired Higuaín after considering that their standards for a manager at the club “are not met.”
