Albert Grønbæk never got the desired start to his stay for Hamburger Sportsverein. The Dane came from a continuous sporting downturn after the Bodø/Glimt exit. First at Rennes, then Southampton and Genoa on loan. On Saturday, things really loosened up, HSV got a goal and an assist from their hired striker for a victory that can ensure survival in the Bundesliga.
Because that was exactly what Grønbæk was brought in for in February. Hamburger SV did not get off course for relegation, the former Glimt star should help give the extra boost in the attacking game. It was not until the beginning of April that he made his debut, in the fifth Bundesliga game on Saturday Grønbæk came with both an assist and a goal to a strong 1-2 win against Eintracht Frankfurt.

This was HSV’s first win since the beginning of March.
After 51 minutes of play against Eintracht, Albert Grønbæk scored his debut goal in the Bundesliga to make it 1-1. A cross ended up at the back of the box, where the 24-year-old cushioned the ball and sent in a goal at the back post. Eight minutes later, Grønbæk was the playmaker with a nice assist to Fabio Vieira and a 1-2 lead – which was the final score.
With two rounds to go, the Hamburg club only needs a single point to mathematically ensure survival in the Bundesliga. Talk about good timing for Grønbæk to sign up with big games!
