– Wants to bring another one from Stamford Bridge to Coventry
Frank Lampard doesn’t have enough with Mykhailo Mudryk – now the Coventry manager is also on the hunt for a new Chelsea player to bolster the squad ahead of the Premier League return.
Lampard is thirsty for further reinforcements as he prepares for his first Premier League season for Coventry since the 2000/2001 season. Coventry stormed to the Championship title last season, and now they will show that they belong in the best company.

The Sky Blues have already signed Caleb Yirenkyi, Carl Rushworth, Lous Tchauouna, Aurele Amenda, Gustavo Hamer, Frank Onyenka and Normal Bassette this summer. But Lampard is far from finished.
He has informed Chelsea of his interest in Mudryk – and now also in another Stamford Bridge star.

The Ukrainian has not played since November 2024, when he was temporarily suspended for testing positive for the banned substance meldonium. The FA closed the case after Mudryk accepted a violation of the anti-doping rules and agreed to a suspension equivalent to one year and eight months – which has already been served.
New Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso said he was “very happy” to have Mudryk back in the squad, but stressed that it was “too early” to assess his level.
A loan spell seems to be the ideal solution for Mudryk to get regular game time and regain the form that saw Chelsea fork out £62m for him.
Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg are interested, but according to Fabrizio Romano, Mudryk prefers to stay in the Premier League if a loan becomes an option.
Frank Lampard also wants Josh Acheampong
Mudryk is not the only Chelsea player on Lampard’s wish list. According to talkSPORT, the Coventry manager is also very interested in discussing a deal for Josh Acheampong.
The 20-year-old is a true academy product from Stamford Bridge and has made 44 appearances for Chelsea since his debut in 2024 – including 30 last season. He is considered one of Europe’s most promising young defenders and is described by Chelsea’s coaching staff as “untouchable”.

Chelsea have already rejected several enquiries for Acheampong, but can still see the benefit of the youngster getting a season under club legend Lampard.
“Keep an eye on Josh Acheampong,” says talkSPORT’s Alex Crook. “He’s a player Frank Lampard would like to have at Coventry. Towards the end of the window, Chelsea could also be willing to make that deal.
Xabi Alonso gets rid of centre-backs
