When Carrick was offered the temporary job as Manchester United manager ahead of Ole Gunnar Solsikjær after Amorim was sacked, various English media reported that the Englishman had done the opposite of Solskjaer. Carrick did not demand a permanent position if a Champions League ticket was secured. Carrick was chosen in January, led United to a Champions League ticket – and is still rewarded.

On Friday, the confirmation of what “everyone” realized had to come: Michael Carrick has signed with Manchester United, two-year contract, until the summer of 2028.
