Benfica have booked a meeting with Mourinho, but first the team will go to the Estádio Municipal 22 de Junho in a meeting with Famalocao on Sunday.
Real Madrid are looking for a new manager for next season, and earlier this week, The Athletic reported that Benfica boss José Mourinho is in the running for a return. According to the website, Mourinho is at the top of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez’s wish list of manager candidates.

Now the Spanish newspaper AS reports that Benfica have booked a meeting with Mourinho at the beginning of next week to discuss a contract extension. Mourinho is currently on a contract that runs until the end of next season, but it also includes a clause that allows him to leave the club for a small buyout price of three million euros – until ten days after the last game of the season.
If Mourinho signs a new contract, it is instead expected to be a new clause with a much higher sum to buy him out. At the same time, AS believes that it is unlikely that Mourinho will go to Real Madrid.
Earlier this week, the Portuguese newspaper Record also reported that Mourinho is in the process of extending his contract with Benfica.
Mourinho took over Benfica in mid-December last year, and he was last in charge of Real Madrid between the summer of 2010 and the summer of 2013. He helped lead the club to a La Liga title, a Copa del Rey title and a Spanish Super Cup title.
Currently, Álvaro Arbeloa is the interim coach of the “Meringues” (Real Madrid). He replaced Xabi Alonso, who was fired in mid-January this year.
