Last summer, a Saudi Arabian club forked out almost £50 million for the signature of Darwin Nunez. One year later, Liverpool are offered to sign the Uruguayan striker again, this time as a free agent. An opportunity too good to pass up for Andoni Iraola and the Liverpool gang?
Nunez has reportedly agreed with the Saudi Arabian club to end his contract. According to TEAMtalk’s sources , Liverpool are among the clubs that have been offered the chance to sign the 26-year-old. A return to Anfield would represent a notable turnaround, with the Reds potentially able to bring back a former player without paying a transfer fee.
Although Nunez’s exit from Liverpool felt right, the season without him made the supporters notice what they had lost with his sale. Although his qualities were sometimes lacking, Nunez was an extremely hardworking and fast attacker, and his loyalty to the shirt was never questioned.
