Emerse Fae is fired as national team coach for Ivory Coast. The federation confirms this in an official statement.
Fae has led Ivory Coast to great success during his time as national team manager. In 2024, he won the Africa Cup of Nations with “The Elephants”, and in this summer’s World Cup, the team made it to the eighth final – where they met Norway and lost.

It was Fae’s last assignment as national team coach.
On Friday, the Ivory Coast Football Association announced that the paths are now parting:
Hervé Renard ready as a replacement
According to reports, Hervé Renard will take over from Fae. The Frenchman has extensive experience with African national teams and led Tunisia in two matches during this summer’s World Cup – before retiring after the championship.
Now he looks set to make a comeback in the Ivory Coast, where he has already led the team to Africa Cup of Nations gold in 2015.
One thing is certain: Ivory Coast will have an experienced warrior at the helm. But Fae’s departure leaves a huge void.
