Jordan Pickford has played for one of the Premier League’s weaker clubs, Everton, but has still been the first choice of Gareth Southgate and now Thomas Tuchel. On Saturday, the biggest task awaits. Pickford has played against Erling Haaland in six games, statistics show that the Englishman has all but cracked the Haaland code.

Now, we’re not going to start comparing Everton’s defence to the England national team, but for Pickford, the numbers are brutal.

Here, the City striker has had the total advantage over Pickford. The two have only met in the Premier League, in the six games Pickford has had to retrieve 7 (!) balls from the Everton cage.

The Blues goalkeeper did stop Haaaland in December 2024, when he saved a penalty from the City striker in the 1-1 draw.

The two have never met in national or European competitions outside of the Premier League, nor have they played against each other internationally.

Quoting English Goodison News ‘ summary: “The results will be a cause for concern for Tuchel’s team, as Haaland clearly has the upper hand over the Hill Dickinson Stadium player. Haaland has scored in every game he has played in the tournament so far, which does not bode well for England. Pickford has only kept a clean sheet once against the 54-cap international and he may struggle to do that again, given the scoring form he has had so far this summer.
