Jürgen Klopp is back. Not just as a coach, but as a strong voice with clear opinions about football, players, coaches and clubs. The time of some round statements as Red Bull director is history, now Klopp speaks again without a filter. Vincent Kompany is this time heard by the German national team coach.

So what was the problem, a 2-2 draw against last season’s Champions League finalist wasn’t a crisis, was it? For Klopp, it’s crucial that Germany’s biggest and best club delivers world-class performance in all phases of the game.

“To this day, I haven’t fully understood what Bayern do when they don’t have the ball. I just want to try to understand it. Sometimes it’s hybrid, sometimes man-man, sometimes not man-man. I’m still trying to understand,” Klopp begins to DAZN TV.

The criticism was particularly aimed at Ballon d’Or candidate Harry Kane’s role in the Bayern team.

“Harry Kane is everywhere today. I think it’s okay with the ball, but without the ball. When I see Harry Kane in the last line of defence, and not in a deep block, but pressing in midfield. I’m not the pope of football, everyone can do whatever they want, but I don’t understand what they want.

Harry Kane was involved in both goals, scoring on penalties and setting up Alphonso Davies’ goal. However, for Klopp, Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich lacks a system for playing without the ball.
