In July 2023, Leeds brought in Daniel Farke. The club had been struggling since the peak with Marcelo Bielsa (before he was sacked), now it was time to create stability. The first task for the German was to get the club back to the Premier League. It went at the second attempt, then came the move to the world’s toughest league, and many were unsure if Farke had what it took to succeed at the top level. After a tough half of the season, Leeds woke up. Four games into the 2026/27 season, the proud club is at the top of the league.
Whites have improved year after year under the German’s regime, having finished third in the Championship in his first season in charge, before a 100-point season earned them the Second Division title the following year. Last season, Leeds secured 14th place when they returned to the Premier League, and after an impressive summer of reinforcements, the club have made a solid start to the new season and have the opportunity to move up to third place if they can secure a win over Newcastle United at Elland Road on Monday night.

And what happens? Leeds not only win, they run over one of the Premier League’s big clubs with a 4-1 win at Elland Road.
When the players went to the dressing room before halftime, the game was in theory over.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jayden Bogle and an own goal by Lewis Miley ensured a 3-0 lead.
“Calvert-Lewin has been unstoppable. I love watching him play,” Sky Sports’ Jamie Carragher said.
With the convincing win, Leeds are in 3rd place in the table after four games. Two wins and two draws to eight points, four behind Arsenal at the top.

Not surprisingly, a new contract for Daniel Farke will soon be announced. Leeds have put themselves on a real surf wave with the German.
