Arne Slot went from being the big hero, after leading Liverpool to the Premier League title in the “impossible” task of replacing Jürgen Klopp, to being directly booed by his own supporters the following season. The Liverpool management kept faith in Slot right up until the end of the season and the following days, then the solution was redefined to Andoni Iraola. Slot disappeared, not long after Mo Salah had openly criticized the Dutchman’s football on his way out of the club. The big question is whether an Iraola at the helm, with his “full throttle” football, can tempt Salah back.

The Athletic has conducted the thought experiment, where Slot’s exit in theory opens up the possibility that superstar Salah could have continued in the Liverpool shirt.

In a transfer report from The Athletic, the question was asked: “With a new manager in place, is there any world where Liverpool turn against Salah?”. The conclusion was not uplifting for Salah fans at Anfield.

It was explained: “No chance. Salah got the farewell he deserved at Anfield at the end of the season after almost nine years of outstanding service. All parties felt it was the right time to go their separate ways, as Salah had started the talks that led to Liverpool agreeing to effectively tear up the final year of his contract in March.”
