Richard Hughes is leaving his post at Liverpool as sporting director (since 2024) and has been involved in coaching moves and giant investments in the transfer market. Now it is reported that Liverpool are looking in-house to fill the position.
Julian Ward is currently the technical director of Fenway Sports Group, which owns Liverpool FC, but will soon take on a new role, reports The Athletic.

According to the English media, it will be Ward who will replace Richard Hughes as sporting director at Liverpool. Hughes recently left the Merseyside club to take over Saudi Al-Hilal.
Julian Ward has a past as sporting director at Liverpool, as he held the role at the club during the 2022-23 season. Ward was then responsible for the signing of players such as Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Alexis MacAllister.
