On Tuesday, Amit Bhatia announced that he is stepping down as co-owner of the English Championship club Queens Park Rangers, where he was previously chairman. As part of one of India’s wealthiest families, he has been part of the Queens Park Rangers for almost two decades. The timing of the Queen’s exit is no coincidence. Now he is taking a group of Indian investors and heading to Liverpool.

On Tuesday, the Financial Times reported that negotiations are underway between Liverpool’s American owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), and an Indian investor consortium to buy a minority stake in the club. If the deal becomes a reality, it will value Liverpool at over six billion dollars.
