Federico Chiesa was heavily linked with a move earlier this summer, but after new Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola came in, the Italian has decided to stay.

Chiesa joined Liverpool from Juventus in 2014 for around 125 million kroner, but struggled to gain confidence under Arne Slot. Last season, he made 26 appearances in the Premier League – but only one from the start. The lack of playing time made him consider his future at Anfield.
“I want to play – otherwise I’ll have to find it elsewhere”

Chiesa will have to endure stiff competition this season – Liverpool are planning to renew their attack this summer.
One of the names that is strongly linked to Anfield is PSG star Bradley Barcola. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool have already had “initial talks” about the 23-year-old Frenchman. The clubs have not yet started formal negotiations, but that could change in the next few days.
The price tag can be a problem. According to French RMC Sport, PSG are demanding a staggering 170 million euros – around 1.45 billion kroner. Liverpool see the sum as “inflated” and “unrealistic”, but will still try to negotiate down the price.

RMC Sport also reports that Barcola has informed PSG that he wants to leave – after he turned down a lucrative contract extension. The last offer of an extension was rejected three months ago.
One thing is certain: The attacking duel in Liverpool will be hotter than it has been for a long time. And Federico Chiesa has decided to fight for his place.
