Liverpool supporters have “slaughtered” one of their own players after the 4-2 loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Friday night. The Reds travelled to Villa Park for their final away game of the Premier League season, in an attempt to secure a place in next season’s Champions League with a win, but fell behind after a goal by Morgan Rogers late in the first half. Captain Virgil Van Dijk headed in the equaliser early in the second half, before Ollie Watkins scored twice to give the home side all three points. John McGinn ended the victory with a fantastic goal in the 88th minute. Van Dijk scored another consolation goal in injury time. It was a Georgian national team goalkeeper who got a wave of supporters’ anger on social media.
Because several Liverpool supporters were particularly annoyed by the performance of the intended Alisson replacement, Giorgi Mamardashvili.

With Alisson still on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury, Mamardashvili was once again given a starting spot this season and once again he failed to deliver a strong performance between the sticks.
It was reported when he was signed from Valencia in the summer of 2024, that the club management saw him as the long-term replacement for the Brazilian, but after struggling in the Premier League during his debut season this year, supporters have made it clear what they think about the situation.
