Liverpool have reportedly received a bid for Darwin Nunez that they intend to jack up a bit before accepting it.

On Monday night, it emerged that Liverpool have turned down a “verbal offer” of around £70 million for out-of-form striker Nunez.

Saudi Arabian Pro League side Al Hilal is said to be the club that submitted the offer. Sam Maguire, who suggests that the Premier League leaders are willing to strike a deal for £75 million.

Arne Slot leads the team in the five major leagues that has scored the most goals this season. It has been an impressive 47 times in 19 games. Mohamed Salah has picked up 18 of these, while Luis Diaz [8] and Cody Gakpo [6] have also contributed to their fine form.

But Nunez has only netted twice in the Premier League this season. Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the Uruguayan’s future on his YouTube channel.

“What I can confirm at the moment is just that the interest from Saudi in Darwin Nunez is genuine,” he said. “There have been conversations to understand the situation of Darwin, the price tag and all these kinds of things.

“There is certainly something in terms of contacts, but at the moment there is nothing advanced in terms of negotiations.”

Romano added: “We have to respect Liverpool – Darwin is an important player for them and they spent important money on him. There are still a lot of things to do, and at the moment we are not at that stage.”

Amid rumours surrounding Nunez’s future at Anfield, a separate report has surfaced suggesting that Liverpool have “started talks” with German side FC Nuremberg regarding a summer transfer for centre-forward Stefanos Tzimas.

Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg reports that a phone call between Liverpool and FC Nuremberg has already taken place in recent days.

Tzimas, who has recorded eight goals and two assists in 15 appearances this season, is currently on loan at the 2. Bundesliga club from the Greek team PAOK.

FC Nuremberg are planning to activate a £15.1 million call option with the intention of selling him outright in the summer, and in a recent interview with BILD, the club’s sporting director appeared to be opening the door to doing business.

“We don’t want to give up any top athletes in the winter, but with the summer in mind, of course, we’re already looking at some options,” said Olaf Rebbe.

If they decide to go ahead with a move, Liverpool will likely have a lot of competition.

A number of Premier League clubs are said to be interested in the Greek striker, including Aston Villa, Chelsea and Brighton, while Plettenberg claims that “many” Bundesliga clubs are also keen to sign the youngest goalscorer in PAOK’s history.

LIverpool are said to be willing to give between £25 million and £30 million and with that give FC Nurnberg a real summer bonus.
